Am I getting wet during kayaking? Yes, you can expect to get a little wet since it's a water sport! But don’t worry, tipping over is very rare. As you get in and out of your kayak and while you paddle, getting a bit wet is all part of the fun!
Are there any age restrictions? ​ We frequently welcome young kayakers and are delighted to have them join our tours! All participants under 13 years old must share a tandem kayak with an adult. Summer can bring extreme heat, and there is no shade on the kayaking trip, so please ensure your child is prepared for this adventure by bringing sunblock, a hat, and long sleeves!
Should I choose a single kayak or a double kayak? Our experienced guides lead daily activities designed for beginners. Most of our excursions are tailored to first-time paddlers or those with limited experience. We offer premium touring kayaks, with both single and tandem options being stable and ideal for novices. For those who prefer not to paddle solo, we suggest the tandem kayak, which requires endurance instead of strength. Our river section features flat water kayaking with no current, making paddling essential. Each trip includes safety guidelines and basic paddling instructions.
Is there any current or rough water? This section of the Colorado River is usually quite calm and pleasant! However, there are times when windy weather can make paddling a bit tricky. But don’t worry—if the conditions are ever too windy or unsafe, we always prioritize your safety and cancel or reschedule our tours. We truly want you to enjoy your time here while feeling safe and secure!
Why do I have to pay 25 USD for the National Park entry fee? ​ The Park entrance fee is not included in the total cost since it is free for children under 16, those with a Military ID, Veterans, and National Park Pass holders.
Are there restrooms available inside the National Park? ​ Yes, restrooms are available at the launch point.
What is the weigh limit? Single kayaks have a weight capacity of under 300 lbs., while our double kayaks accommodate under 550 lbs., with neither passenger exceeding 300 lbs.
Is lunch provided? ​ Having a hearty breakfast is a great idea! We’re happy to offer you delicious granola bars, fresh bananas, and refreshing bottled water to start your day right.
Are there any health restrictions? - Not suitable for travelers with back issues. - Not advisable for pregnant travelers. - Not suitable for travelers with heart issues or severe medical conditions. - The maximum weight limit is 300 lbs per person. - This is a family-friendly group activity; alcohol and smoking are prohibited.
When is the best time to visit? Anytime! Summer is definitely the busiest season, bringing warm weather and giving you a great chance to spot bighorn sheep at the river, along with Bald Eagles! Plus, you can enjoy an invigorating swim in the refreshing waters. We offer trips all year round, so we're absolutely excited to welcome you in any season!
How long is the kayak tour? Tours typically depart at 10 AM (PST) from Willow Beach, AZ, and the kayaking lasts about 3 hours. A reminder text message containing all the details will be sent to you a day prior to your kayaking trip.
What is the rental duration? You will meet us at Willow Beach at 9 AM, and the rental equipment must be returned by 2:30 PM.
Is it possible to swim in the river?  The river maintains a temperature of 54°F year-round, providing a refreshing experience for jumping in or swimming during hot summer days.
What should I do if I need to cancel? ​ Travelers are eligible for a full refund upon canceling their experiences at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Regrettably, refunds will not be issued after this timeframe. If you wish to reschedule, kindly do so at your earliest convenience to secure an alternate date. The Las Vegas Kayak reserves the right to cancel tours due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a cancellation on our part, we will provide a full refund, credit, or rescheduling options depending on the specific situation. Please be advised that we do not cancel tours as a result of rain, excessive heat, or cold weather.
